No matter how spiritually strong a person is for God, the devil always finds a weak point in his or her faith and focuses on exploiting it in order to bring about discontentment and resentment towards God in a given situation. Like a sniper scouting his target, once the devil locates the chink in that spiritual armour, one can be sure that he(the devil) will not let it pass him by. Tearing down the walls of confidence and faith can have a rippling effect on a person's spiritual walk. Disillusionment, weariness and bitterness with serving God are some of the fruits of the devil's work in exploiting that weakness. With that comes backsliding and to a certain extent a hatred for God. This eventually leads to a total breakdown in communication with God and a blatant disregard for God's presence and authority.
It is not possible to say that there is a person in this world who does not have that chink in his spiritual armour. As we were created as humans, naturally we are imperfect. That goes for our faith as well. The Christian walk has never been one of tranquility, but rather one of constant pursuit. If someone were to have the perfect life, he would not need God. Similarly, if someone were to have the perfect faith in God, he would have no need in being called a Christian as being a Christian embodies the never-ending strive to be like God, or Christ-like in nature.
Therefore one can only take the first step in protecting that chink. That is to pray. Pray like never before. We are all humans and possess a weakness in some aspect or another. However, as Christians, we are able to claim that weakness and overcome it with the victory that is given to us by Christ. We are also able to rebuke the devil and his works in the name of Jesus. And as soon as we proclaim it, do not doubt it for even a moment.
That, they say, is to have faith in faith.
